Inductive Automation Honors Innovators with Ignition Firebrand Awards

Eight Companies Awarded for SCADA and MES Achievements

Inductive Automation presented the first Ignition Firebrand Awards to eight innovative companies at the Ignition Community Conference in Folsom, Calif. on Sept. 18, 2013.

The Ignition Firebrand Awards formally recognize the companies that have utilized Ignition by Inductive Automation® software in the most innovative and effective ways, such as increasing return on investment, saving money for clients, converting from another SCADA system or being advocates of Ignition. Ignition is a modular software platform that is very flexible for creating custom human machine interface (HMI) / supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and manufacturing execution system (MES) applications.

Inductive Automation gave out four Gold Firebrand Awards and four Silver Firebrand Awards. The Gold Awards were divided into two categories – SCADA and MES – with an End User and an Integrator in each. The Gold winner in the SCADA End User category was Sherwin-Williams, a leading North American supplier of paints and coatings based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Gold winner in the SCADA Integrator category was Brown Engineers, LLC, an engineering firm based in Little Rock, Ark. The Gold winner in the MES End User category was Schnitzer Steel, a leading metal recycling and steel company based in Portland, Ore. The Gold winner in the MES Integrator category was Roeslein & Associates, Inc., a systems integrator headquartered in St. Louis, Mo.

The Silver Awards were divided into three awards for SCADA and one for MES. The three Silver SCADA winners were Sierra Nevada Brewery, based in Chico, Calif.; Helix Water District, based in San Diego County, Calif.; and Trimax Systems, Inc., based in Brea, Calif. The Silver MES winner was Diamond Foods, based in San Francisco.

"We are pleased to present the Ignition Firebrand Awards to integrators and end users who are passionate about Ignition, instigate new ideas, are unafraid to take on complex challenges and new practices, and are outspoken about the software," said Steve Hechtman, President and CEO of Inductive Automation. "These companies inspire the whole Ignition community around the world by leveraging the software to change their businesses for the better."
